Located on the Harvey and Erma Hinz farm, the Burlington Little Line is offering train rides for up to a party of 30 people for a special occasion such as a birthday.  This is sure to please young and old alike.  Picnic tables are on the grounds located near McCook, Nebraska.  Harvey will supply the train rides and the winner of this auction item will supply the people and food.

Our own Ree Smock has donated two unique baskets full of her homemade jellies. Ree gathers the wild fruit to make these jellies from the road side of southwest Nebraska.

Unique Paper Basket:

This unique basket fashioned from four brown grocery bags contains three beautifully decorated jellies made by Ree. She has decorated each jar of jelly with a beautiful bonnet trimmed with three miniature roses. Jellies included in this unique gift basket are: Elderberry, Chokecherry, and peach.

Farmer’s market Wooden Crate:

This trio of jellies comes in their own little wooden crate which reminds us of the wooden crates of old. Ree has trimmed each jar of her homemade jelly with a flower covered bonnet. Jellies in this collection are: Elderberry, peach and wild grape.

3. Decorated Egg - Karmon Johnson

Each decorated egg is unique, no two are alike. It takes many hours to complete an egg project. The egg has several coats of a special product to strengthen the shell. A high gloss finish is also used to protect the finished design. The beautiful flowers on this egg are decoupaged with a “Sunken” and “Raised” technique, creating texture and interest. The design is accented with sparkly, dark pink Austrian crystals and white pearls. Lift up the pearl droplet and the egg magically opens. Lush, soft pink velvet lines the inside of the shell. Two little roses are “nestled” in the corner, ready for something special and precious to be placed beside them.

Take a blast from the past with this 1940’s style Royal Standard Typewriter. Originally Army surplus, this typewriter works just like it did the day it was built. It takes no electricity, so you can put it anywhere and use it anytime. The ink ribbon needs replaced, but the typewriter is in perfect shape. This typewriter was kindly donated by Fred Boerger.

11. Organ Lessons and Liturgical Music Workshop

Six 90 minute organ lessons given by well known premier mid-west organist Dr. J. Gordon Christensen, organist and director of music at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial to be scheduled at times mutually agreeable to Dr. Christensen and the purchaser.  Two lessons will be given on the pipe organ in Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial and four will be given on organs of the purchaser's choice. 

Dr. Christenson suggests the lessons be given to one organist.  If a congregation purchases the lessons with the intention of more than one organist receiving the lessons, no more than two organists should take the lessons. 

In addition to the lessons, this offer includes two books of organ music to be selected by Dr. Christensen following discussion with the recipient before the first lesson.  The selected books will address the needs of the recipient organist as well as developing the skills of the recipient.

Also included this year is the registration to “Marriage Matters: Weddings, Wars and Winning Ways: A Music and Theology Workshop for Church Musicians, Pastors and Interested Laymen” featuring Theologian Dr. Michael A. Eschelback and Musician Dr. Jeffrey Blersch. The workshop is Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial.

35. Hand tied Patch work Quilt

          The ladies at St. John’s Ash Creek spend January through March quilting at the church. This year the ladies made 214 quilts! They send the quilts all over the world by donating them to orphan Grain Train, to the McCook pantry, Cambridge Manor, Hillcrest in McCook, Kearney Good Samaritan Hospital, and several hospitals in Denver. They not only make large quilts, but also numerous baby quilts. They have donated this full size quilt to KNGN. The quilt is made up of a variety of 6 inch squares of fabric. Let this quilt made with such love warm not only your body, but your soul.

The picture itself, painted from acrylic paint of a windmill on a beautiful sunny day, is amazing on its own, but the canvas this picture is painted on is the most spectacular. The windmill and background are delicately painted on a wild turkey feather! The craftsmanship is spectacular. The feather is matted and framed in a black 5 x 7 frame.
